Always Ready

It is hard not to get pulled into the headline news in today’s world. There are conflicts all over the world, and sadly enough, that is always the case. Even in the ancient world this was the norm. For some people, they begin to wonder if this conflict will be the end of the world. It ought not surprise us when reading the Bible, this same thought is referenced in Matthew 24,

“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.”

The Bible shares that no one knows when the end of the world will actually happen, but that we should “be ready”. The comfort that we have is that Jesus is the one that has won the ultimate war: The fight for our lives and salvation. In His life, death and resurrection, we have a victory over sin, death and the devil. Thanks be to God that we have that assurance today!
