“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Isaiah 40:31 New International Version

Life can be like a mountain that’s too hard to climb.  The obstacles are too great, the danger too much, the exertion beyond oneself.  Can you identify with any of these insurmountable problems?  Covid, job loss, medical emergencies, depression, divorce, relationship conflict, death, money problems, guilt, anger, addiction, fear, hurt, bitterness, pain, and on and on and on the list goes.

The mountain is too steep.  The danger is too great.  The obstacles are too much.  What shall I do?  Shall I give up and curse God and die?  Shall I lose myself in numbing my pain?  Shall I pretend that nothing is the matter when my whole world is collapsing?

I have a thought for you.  Hope in the Lord.  That’s right.  Hope in the Lord.  For those who put their hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not faint.

In the Lord is our strength and salvation.  In Him is the answer to mountains too hard to climb.  In Jesus Christ is our victory in the midst of loss and our peace in the midst of pain.  As the hymn goes:

“From sinking sand He lifted me,
With tender hand He lifted me;
From shades of night to plains of light,
Oh, praise His name, He lifted me!”

Yes, praise Your name, You lifted me.  You gave me strength, my hope is in You alone.  Lift me, Lord, I do trust in You alone.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.
